Why should I choose a pediatric dentist for dental care?

Dr. Orbon and Dr. Maddox are licensed pediatric dentists in the state of Illinois, practicing in Gurnee and Vernon Hills. They are dental specialists who have dedicated their careers to caring for all of their patients. Unlike regular dentists, Dr. Orbon and Dr. Maddox have completed two years of specialty training and education beyond their dental school education and are all members of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. They are the primary and specialty oral care providers for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special health needs. They specialize in making your child’s experience fun!

When should my child first see a Pediatric Dentist?

Dr. Orbon and Dr. Maddox follow the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD). Our Gurnee and Vernon Hills children’s dentists are all about prevention and establishing good dental experiences. The AAPD recommends that your child see a pediatric dentist when the first tooth appears, or no later than his/her first birthday. Call us at (847) 367-6055 to schedule your child’s first visit.

What will you do at my child’s first dental appointment?

At your child’s first dental appointment, our Lindenhurst pediatric dentists will examine your child’s mouth, checking for cavities and any potential problems involving the teeth and gums. One of our Libertyville pediatric dentists will also determine if your child is at risk for cavities in the future and will discuss preventive measures if your child is cavity prone with you. We will also provide parents with proper oral hygiene instructions and diet counseling for their child.

How often should I bring my child in for check-ups?

We recommend that children visit us for check-ups every 6 months, just like adults. The exact length of time between visits that we recommend may vary based on different oral health factors. Such factors include whether a child is prone to cavities, has braces, or has a tendency to build up tartar more quickly.

Can I reach a dentist if I have a dental emergency after hours?

Yes. If you have a dental emergency outside of business hours, please call us at (847) 367-6055. Your message will be forwarded to the doctor on call who will contact you as quickly as possible.

Will you take my child as a patient even though I do not have dental insurance?

Yes. We welcome all new patients regardless of their insurance situation. We have a variety of affordable payment options available to our patients including a 0% interest plan for those who qualify.

Will you help me file my dental insurance claims?

Yes. We accept most insurance plans. We will work with you and your insurance company to process your claims. Unfortunately, your dental insurance company will only pay for a portion of your dental care. We will help you find an affordable payment option. We will estimate your portion and ask you to pay that amount at the time of service.
